Teaching Philosophy

Having studied with distinguished professors from both the Russian and British cello traditions, Alejandra Díaz received her formal training from students of Mstislav Rostropovich, Jacqueline du Pré, Ralph Kirshbaum and Aldo Parisot. A graduate of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, she has built an international career that combines a deep commitment to performance and pedagogy.

Alejandra is Professor of Cello at the Conservatorio Superior de Música da Coruña and has also taught as a guest professor at the Escuela de Altos Estudios Musicales de Galicia, where she has worked with advanced students through masterclasses and specialized training.

Her teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that technique exists to serve the music, not the other way around. She emphasizes freedom of movement, natural body mechanics, and musicality as the foundation for achieving each student's highest level of performance. Rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach, she tailors her teaching to each student's individual needs, recognizing that every musician possesses unique strengths and artistic potential. By fostering confidence, curiosity, and technical excellence, she helps students discover their own musical voice and create the conditions for their full potential to flourish.

Alejandra's students have gone on to achieve success in competitive auditions and professional training opportunities. They have earned positions in the Banda Sinfónica Galega and the Youth Orchestra of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia, as well as participating in the Erasmus+ programme, furthering their musical studies and international experience across Europe. These achievements reflect her commitment to nurturing each student's individual strengths and preparing them for the next stage of their artistic and professional development.
